Charles Mutwiri is the founder and steward of Mukarimu Coffee Estate in Meru County, Kenya. He inherited 150 coffee trees in 1979 and, through vision and dedication, expanded the estate to over 17,000 trees producing more than 80,000 kilograms of coffee cherries annually.
The name Mukarimu reflects his ancestral lineage and translates to "generous" in Swahili, symbolizing his character and community spirit. He is recognized for his commitment to quality, sustainability, and farmer empowerment, and has served among the directors guiding the New Kenya Planters Cooperative Union, contributing to its strategic direction.
His social impact initiatives include supporting women farmers through Thuura Organic Women Coffee and distributing thousands of seedlings to empower local communities. His coffee is celebrated for its bright acidity, heavy body, and flavor notes of dark chocolate, vanilla, and citrus.
